After over 200 days of the Twitter ban in Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian presidency, including presidential aides, have returned to the microblogging social media platform.
Among the president’s aides who did not waste time to resume activities on the social media platform are Tolu Ogunlesi, Bashir Ahmad and several Mr Buhari apologists who had pitched tent with Koo following the regime’s illegal suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria.
The Nigerian president banned the microblogging site after Twitter deleted his tweet threatening genocidal treatment against Igbo youths in the South-East. Many government officials and agencies migrated to the Indian-owned Koo.
Since the lifting of the ban on Thursday, the regime and its apologists have rushed back to Twitter.
Tweeting on Thursday morning, the presidency announced that “President Buhari will be in Ogun State today, January 13, 2022, to commission a number of infrastructure projects.”
Mr Ogunlesi, who fumbled for something to say when asked by CNN if he supported Mr Buhari’s Twitter ban, also resumed tweeting, promoting the regime’s activities.
Similarly, Mr Ahmad, another presidential aide, took to the microblogging platform immediately after the ban was lifted.
“The microblogging site is deeply committed to Nigeria that is the best part of this tweet. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Mr Ahmad tweeted.
