Tolu Ogunlesi, Bashir Ahmad, other regime trolls crawl back to Twitter from Koo
After over 200 days of the Twitter ban in Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian presidency, including presidential aides, have returned to the microblogging social media platform.
Among the president’s aides who did not waste time to resume activities on the social media platform are Tolu Ogunlesi, Bashir Ahmad and several Mr Buhari apologists who had pitched tent with Koo following the regime’s illegal suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria.
The Nigerian president banned the microblogging site after Twitter deleted his tweet threatening genocidal treatment against Igbo youths in the South-East. Many government officials and agencies migrated to the Indian-owned Koo.
Since the lifting of the ban on Thursday, the regime and its apologists have rushed back to Twitter.
Tweeting on Thursday morning, the presidency announced that “President Buhari will be in Ogun State today, January 13, 2022, to commission a number of infrastructure projects.”
Mr Ogunlesi, who fumbled for something to say when asked by CNN if he supported Mr Buhari’s Twitter ban, also resumed tweeting, promoting the regime’s activities.
Similarly, Mr Ahmad, another presidential aide, took to the microblogging platform immediately after the ban was lifted.
“The microblogging site is deeply committed to Nigeria that is the best part of this tweet. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Mr Ahmad tweeted.
#NGAEGY: Live Stream: Nigeria vs Egypt By 5pm
There is a huge weight of expectation on the Liverpool star’s shoulders to spearhead his nation to a record-extending eighth AFCON triumph in Cameroon after his scintillating form at club level.
But Egypt face a difficult began in their quest to reclaim the title they won three times in a row between 2006-10, with three-time winners Nigeria no doubt also confident of making a deep run in the competition after a semi-final tilt three years ago.
Date, kick-off time and venue
Nigeria vs Egypt is scheduled for a 4pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday January 11, 2022.
Morocco 1-0 Ghana: Late Boufal goal settles heavyweight AFCON clash

Nigeria vs Egypt team news
Nigeria’s hopes of a fourth Africa Cup of Nations crown have been hit by the absences of key forwards Emmanuel Dennis and Victor Osimhen, who remain with Watford and Napoli respectively.
Rangers’ Leon Balogun and Omonia Nicosia’s Shehu Abdullahi also withdrew from Augustine Eguavoen’s 28-man tournament squad, with Henry Onyekuru, Tyronne Ebuehi, Peter Olayinka and West Brom’s Semi Ajayi called up instead.
Nigeria will be without Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis in Cameroon
Nigeria are also missing former Manchester United loanee Odion Ighalo, who was not permitted to leave Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab as Jamilu Collins was drafted in.
As for Egypt, left-back Mohamed Hamdi has been ruled out of AFCON with a knee injury and Ibrahim Adel and goalkeeper Mohamed Abo-Gabal are among those to have tested positive for Covid-19.
Nigeria vs Egypt prediction
This is the tie of the tournament so far between two sides who will expect to figure in the latter stages.
Having Salah in their ranks is obviously an enormous boost for Egypt, but their supporting cast – not a patch on what he is used to at Liverpool – will need to step up consistently if he is to showcase his best form in Cameroon.
The absences of Dennis, Osimhen and Ighalo are big blows for Nigeria, who may well struggle for goals.
We’re plumping for Nigeria to kick off their campaign with a statement victory.
Egypt 0-1 Nigeria.
Head to head (h2h) history and results
